Boycott? No.Watch the Inauguration!
People who are justly revolted by Donald Trump are boycotting the inauguration, which seems doubly obscene because it is happening on Martin Luther King Day. I disagree totally.
We need to watch, at least as much of it as we can stand, so we can remember and call him out on his inevitable lies and failed promises. Watch his inaugural speech, if you can, and read it afterwards. Then, I’d advise you to watch John F. Kennedy’s inaugural speech, possibly the greatest in my lifetime, or one of Barack Obama’s, to remind yourself what a presidential speech should be.
Putting your head in the sand is not a good strategy, even for an ostrich. Our democracy has been threatened by internal enemies before. But if we are to take this country back, we need to know as much as possible about what we are up against. That’s why nations have intelligence services, especially in a time of war.
I still plan on not watching. Same reason some people can't bring themselves to watch horror movies. It's like reading about a horrible car crash in the paper. I don't need to watch the crash. Everything will be covered in print. I find it easier to digest if I don't have to hear his voice.
He couldn't be a mature person today knowing that over 50% of voters voted for some one else. So there is no mandate for the convicted felon who tried to over throw the government. We are informed. What a way to remember MLK.
