Journalism Loses -- Again
A bizarre example of art (of sorts) imitating life
You couldn’t have made this up, even if you were writing an embarrassingly bad screenplay. Journalism lost to Sovereignty, not as it does every day in the Trump universe, but at the Kentucky Derby. What’s more, the track was muddy, even as is everything else about life in America today.
Actually, I was more worried that the race would be won by the horse called Final Gambit. It wasn’t, but look for that name to resurface when the administration, if not the nation, hits rock bottom. By the way, four students were shot to death 55 years ago at Kent State University.
I wonder, if they were alive today and in their 70s, what they would make of the society and nation we’ve become.

I wanted Journalism to win. At the Derby and in life.
Of course Journalism lost. He was doomed by his name. I bet on him anyway — but have you noticed that the word “journalism” sounds increasingly musty and quaint?
