Palestinian Hypocrisy
Politically unpopular thoughts for a Saturday morning
On Wednesday, an unspeakable scumbag from Chicago brutally murdered a beautiful young couple outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. He was from Israel and worked at their embassy; she was from Kansas.
The killer wasn’t Palestinian, but another male loser wannabe who reportedly smirked and shouted “Free Palestine” when he was arrested. I know his name, but won’t print it, and nobody else should either, for fame is exactly what these monsters want. The government is likely to seek the death penalty, but that shouldn’t happen either.
The scumbag wants to be a martyr. Instead, he should be sentenced to life without parole in solitary confinement, and forgotten. I am quite aware that solitary confinement is seen as an inhuman punishment.
Every society is full of deranged losers like this one; the difference is, we allow them to have all the guns they want. What bothers me, and should bother you, is that so far as I know, there hasn’t been a word from any Palestinian agency denouncing and condemning this crime. Why is that? Any other group would have condemned such a thing. Even the Soviets did in similar circumstances.
We don’t yet know whether the killer was stirred by the carnage in Gaza, or by the general climate of hate now engulfing this country, or whether he thinks his neighbor’s cat told him to do it.
It doesn’t matter. Antisemitism is at levels I’d never thought I’d see, and it is chic in some circles to be pro-Palestinian, and mouth slogans like “from the river to the sea,” not realizing that is a thinly veiled call for genocide.
Incidentally, I have no ethnic ties to the Middle East myself; I am a cheerful atheist of mainly tepid Protestant and northern European extraction. But the first person I ever knew to be Jewish was Albert Einstein, and the first Palestinian my baby boom generation ever heard of was Sirhan Sirhan. My generation grew up among people with numbers on their arms who knew all about genocide.
You can loathe Netanyahu; I do myself. But we are allowing antisemitism to be mainstream and permissible, and despite Trump hypocritically using it as a tool to attempt to punish major universities, MAGA is stirring it up, too.
We’ve seen where this can lead before.
Is this the kind of country we want ours to be? You owe it to yourselves, and even more to our children, to think about it.

I was an American liberal and like most liberals supported Israel, but one day one of my Jewish friends said it was no longer the place it started out to be and was taken over by its militant right wing who will stop at nothing to take over all of Palestine. There is no excuse for this kind of senseless killing to be sure, but if you want to stop the spread of anti-Semitism, stop killing and starving innocent Palestinians. Civilization is in jeopardy if it condones this inhumanity. That's what's at stake.
If I were as talented as you, these are the words I would write. As to your question about why Palestinians haven't denounced this atrocity?....perhaps they're waiting for the Israelis to denounce the genocide of many tens of thousands of Palestinian babies
