Yes! And I say, donate money and time to a younger politician. Help them grow straight and strong. I am 60+ years older, and feel tired and decrepit. But I can yell out the window. I am mad as HELL. And I am not going to take it anymore!

Address and confront the "banality of evil", enabling Trump and MAGA.

I’ve concluded, as many others, that this has to be done in a non confrontational way, and I’m trying to change my approach. Those people already know they are despised. Many are probably having their doubts about DT. An approach that offers a little sympathy and acknowledgment that they were lied to, along with a “what can we do about it together?” is my current strategy. Cult members just seem to dig their heels in deeper in the face of anger and hostile confrontation.

I'm inclined to agree.

For the past 2 elections, I've served as a polling worker, as I fear that this administration and its supporters will try to screw up election results. Being involved at the polls gives you an understanding of the checks/balances built into the process. It also exposes the vulnerabilities of the system--so its important to be involved to guard against fraud/destruction of votes that could occur during voting. Usually the people working the polls are older (not me, I'm in my sixties!), and its important that younger people get involved (I'm still working, but get election day off) in this basic but most important part of democracy.

Its only one day, you get paid a small amount, and you can defend against any trickery this administration and its minions may try to pull.

"""I’m not saying run for high office. But it might make sense to try to get on your local council or school or library board. """

This, all of this. Even below elections there are so many commissions and boards, and even neighborhood associations. These easily forgotten about institutions have __power__; and often struggle to fill positions. Saving our republic is going to be nudging a thousand levers towards getting so many things in our society to work again. We need to build solidarity everywhere, join, be a calm voice for solidarity.

If you are in Grand Rapids, MI check out the vacancy list - https://www.grandrapidsmi.gov/files/assets/public/v/115/departments/city-clerk/files/boards-and-commissions/documents/1.13.26.pdf - or wherever you are find the equivalent document; there almost certainly is one.
