If they do manage to impeach him it will open them up to prosecution for a variety of crimes, some capital, since they will presumably lose their jobs and their protection. There may be a chance, if the Dems take back the house in the near term and manage to appoint a speaker who isn't a complete candy ass, there is the possibility of impeaching the POTUS and his lap dogs.

They would remove him, not impeach him. The House could impeach him, but the Senate won't convict him. You need 67 votes for that.
