What We're Missing About the Epstein Files
It's not what's in them so much as what happens afterwards
It now seems very clear that the Epstein files, or whatever they are, are going to be released, and that Donald Trump is going to be mentioned in some damning way.
Everyone has been speculating about what might be in them for months. But that’s not what we should be focusing on. What we need to start preparing for is what happens next — and on getting Republicans, especially those who will be up for reelection, to say what it would take to get them to turn against Trump.
Would they vote to impeach and convict him if, say, there was credible evidence that he was having sex with 13 or 14 year old girls? If he physically abused them in other ways? If he was paying for illegally trafficked children? Trump himself will just lie, of course, no matter how strong the proof might be, and millions of MAGA zombies will believe whatever he says, or blame it on the little girls, who they will say seduced him.
But not everyone who voted for him will be taken in. And we need to get the Republicans on the record about this, as soon as possible.
At the very least, it will be ammunition for the war to take back America. We need to do this now, and as completely as we can. We must not give in; we will not go back.
And we must not let this opportunity go by.

It is about what happens afterwards, but it will also depend on whether the situation is framed properly beforehand.
It may turn out that a) Trump is not implicated in anything heinous, or b) that anything that might implicate Trump has been scrubbed. That said:
It is critical that this becomes a question about why the GOP has been running cover for child sexual molesters. There will be dozens, both in the files and among the sycophants, whose hands are already or will be permanently dirtied. As the GOP members of Congress break ranks, it will be critical that this becomes about who is continuing to run cover for child sexual molesters. And why? How corrupt and depraved do you have to be to do that? How will you explain that to your children and grandchildren, Pam and Mike and Acosta and Thune and Justice Roberts?
It is time to separate the wheat from the chaff. Or probably more accurately, for the GOP, to cut out the cancerous tumor. We must force the GOP, in Congress, the administration, and the Supreme Court, to decide if they are malignant or healthy tissue. We are approaching the John Dean moment. There are a lot of folks who need to choose if they want to be John Mitchells, or Haldemans or Ehrlichmans.
Just as with Watergate, the members of the GOP now find themselves forced to decide which side of history they want to end up on. Choose wisely, folks.
47 only reversed strategy after he found out half or more of the House would vote to release the files. Then it has to go to the Senate. If it passes there it goes on to WH and who knows if it will be signed or vetoed. Even if the files are released they could redact all names but Dems and/or enemies. And even if all names of participants in these heinous acts are released, magas might not even care. If all this happens then I agree with your assessment about what comes after. The crazy part is, there is no need for an actual vote as the DOJ could release these files any time. And should.
