Thank you, Jack. Spot on, as usual. I watched Laurence last night and he was very clear about what needs to be done—now. Fire ‘em all and impeach the rest. Liars and grifters and toadies all.
It is certain, in any case, that ignorance allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have. James Baldwin.
I am on the side of the Constitution, of civil and human rights. Thank you for taking a side, the right side. Other media should take a lesson. They are complicit when they do not and have become a part of the regime. Keep speaking up!!
When this old face — although it be quite a handsome face— needs a smile, Jack’s posts crease it These posts should overwhelm the piddle The Washington Post and elsewhere.
Meadowbrook Theatre at Oakland University is presenting "What the Constitution Means to Me" from February 11 through March 5. Its time we all buy a ticket or two. Teachers of Civics are to be encouraged to take your students. Matinees are available during the school day. If you can't attend, most book stores have a pamphlet copy. Maybe its time to read or re-read the document while it still exists. "We have a republic....if you can keep it." B. Franklin
This is the way ALL journalists should be expressing the CRIMES OF THIS ADMINISTRATION. It is mind boggling that the Supreme Court can be tolerated in this time of Trump. Congress needs to reform sooner rather than later! This sick federal government needs to standup and reform and be praying for forgiveness from every one of us!😡 Thanks Jack!
Bothsideism is workable some of the time, but these days, none of the time. When one fellow wears jackboots and lifts a stiff arm, and the other guy, some tennis shoes and care for vets, there is no bothsideism ... thanks for your essay, and a shoutout, indeed, to your editor ... its about 35 years ago, or so, that we met - early 90s, I guess, through the Hemlock Society.
There are times I wish I hadn't been so right over the last 10 years, and how men much wiser, consistently argued I was wrong. Believe me, I wish I had been wrong...but unfortunately I wasn't.
However insensitive this may seem, ICE has murdered 9 citizens this year, 2 of which were white. So to all the white people who thought they had it good, this is what happens when you remain neutral for too long. They never stopped coming for blacks and other non-whites. Is it really so shocking that our skin no longer gives us immunity? Just something to think about when talking about "remaining neutral."
Reporting is that at least 32 people have died in ICE/BP custody since last year. Two were public murders in the street, yes, but many others while in detention, through "restraint", neglect, or unspecified circumstances.
Were you around for Kent State, the Moratoriums? If you were and those who disagree with you were, we are at a precipice again. It is time to speak out about what you see, hear, and feel.
This has gone way too far. Congress is complacent.
I was not at the moratoriums. I was in the military then. I watched as people similar to my age were protesting. We were trained so as to handle such issues then. Just rifles, helmets. gas masks, etc. No live rounds except for a few. Just a Battalion of us.
We are approaching a time when more than just you should be saying and doing something to confront a rogue president who makes Nixon look far better.
I hadn't been born yet. If I knew how to organize and mobilize people, I'd be camping out in D.C. everyday until Article 2, Section 4 of the Constitution removed the whole wicked lot of them.
Wow, thanks Ken. Muse or angel or just want to keep that blue pencil in use? It's hard to tell, but appreciated daily.
Jack, another great column. It really has come down to picking sides, hasn't it? Let us hope we also don't dissolve into fighting like it's 1861. I feel inspired to go dig out and listen to an old folk song, Pete Seeger's "Which Side Are You On?"
Thank you, Jack. Spot on, as usual. I watched Laurence last night and he was very clear about what needs to be done—now. Fire ‘em all and impeach the rest. Liars and grifters and toadies all.
It is exhausting. Keep up the good fight.
You too!

Once again, I blush

Thanks -- I will help spread the word!

Yes, I do believe. Or Kevorkian

I think I was a young child the last time I saw Ken Eatherly. Glad he's doing well.
