Those were the governors I grew up with and I agree. Shortly after John Engler was elected, I met him at a mid-Michigan airport. I looked him in the eye, shook his hand and said, "Good afternoon Governor, where's your Oldsmobile?" His reply was, "We have a comedian here.". He never said where the Olds was.
